ABE qualifications – 2008/9 • Developments • Optional Islamic banking units added to Diploma & Advanced Diploma level in BM programme • Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management was introduced in February 2009 • Advanced Diploma level added to Marketing programme

Quality assurance • ABE is recognised as an awarding body by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) • All of the ABE qualifications have received QCA accreditation • QCA reports to the UK Department for Education & Skills (DfES) • Qualifications developed in consultation with UK Sector Skills Councils & Employers, ensuring the latest industry standards • ABE has its own stringent college accreditation criteria • Question papers set and marked in the UK by specialist examiners who are university lecturers or professionals, and monitored by specialist moderators.
ABE fees • We are a not-for-profit organisation • Our rapid growth over 35 years means we can keep fees low • Combined cost to student of taking Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma can be as low as £695*. (UK Fee) • FM Fees include dual membership of ABE & IAB / IFA • Cost significantly lower than two years at a university • Students pay in instalments so less of a burden * Cost based on the student taking no more than one year to pass each level of qualification and passing all exams at their first attempt.
ABE entry points • Certificate – no formal requirements • Diploma – ABE Certificate/A levels/local equivalent/work • Advanced Diploma – ABE Diploma/local equivalents • Postgraduate Diploma – ABE Advanced Diploma/ local equivalents/work

University progression – 2009 • Certificate holders will be able to progress to the first year of many degree programmes • Diploma holders can progress to the second year of degree programmes • Advanced Diploma holders can progress to the final year of degree programmes • Postgraduate Diploma holders can gain module/semester exemptions from UK MBA/Masters programmes • Well-established agreements now in place with around 65 universities worldwide • These progression routes can be far more affordable than spending three years at a university campus
