Dan Brown, the author of The Da Vinci Code, was asked by Matt Lauer of The Today Show, if his novel was based on things that actually occurred…
Brown Responded… “Absolutely All Of It! Obviously the character Richard Langdon is fictional, but all of the art, architecture, secret rituals and secret societies; all of that is historical fact!”
Best selling author and researcher James Garlow says: “Is Dan Brown so unskilled to do such shoddy work and not realize it?”
Best selling author and researcher James Garlow says: “He firmly defends his novel as historical fact!”
This book is completely riddled with grossly erroneous information and fantasy
TWO REASONS • He wrote The Da Vinci Code with an agenda to convince his readers of something, whether it is true or not • He truly believes what he wrote and he also has the aforementioned agenda
To make every effort to destroy the credibility of Orthodox Christianity by refuting two themes:
The Authenticity, Historical Accuracy and Reliability of the Bible • To deny the Full Divinity of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
“I found the Da Vinci Code much more offensive as a scholar, than a believer” Dr. Gary A. ByersExecutive DirectorAssociates For Biblical ResearchISRAEL
“Dan Brown gives the impression that he is an Historian, which he is not. I don’t think he is so much interested in the truth as in drama and mystery.” “Just about everything he said about Leonardo Da Vinci is wrong!” Dr. Jack WassermanRetired Professor of Art & HistoryAnd Expert On Leonardo Da VinciTemple University, Philadelphia
“For storytelling, I give it an A For knowledge of the history of the church a C- And for Systematic Theology an F!” Dr. James HalsteadChairman of Religious StudiesDePaul University
Here are just a FEW of the many errors represented as fact in Dan Brown’sThe Da Vinci Code
Jesus is a great man or prophet in the earliest historical sources but was later proclaimed divine at the Council Of Nicaea.
Jesus is a great man or prophet in the earliest historical sources but was later proclaimed divine at the Council Of Nicaea. Jesus is called “God” (theos) 7 times in the New Testament. He is called “Lord” (kyrios) in the divine sense numerous times. No serious historian argues that these texts post-date the Council Of Nicaea.
One particularly troubling theme kept recurring in the [Gnostic] gospels. Mary Magdalene… More specifically, her marriage to Jesus Christ. (p. 244)
One particularly troubling theme kept recurring in the [Gnostic] gospels. Mary Magdalene… More specifically, her marriage to Jesus Christ. (p. 244) The Gnostic Gospels, a collection of anonymous writings that blended psuedo-Christian ideas with esoteric spirituality, say nothing about Mary and Jesus being married.
The Bible, as we know it today, was collated by the pagan Roman Emperor Constantine.(p. 231)
The Bible was not collated by Constantine, who died in 337AD. The Old Testament existed prior to even Jesus’ day. And the New Testament, although it started coming together by the end of the first century (about 90-100AD), was not formalized until about 393-397AD (after Constantine’s death). The Bible, as we know it today, was collated by the pagan Roman Emperor Constantine.(p. 231)
The royal bloodline of Jesus Christ has been chronicled in exhaustive detail by scores of historians. (p. 253)
The royal bloodline of Jesus Christ has been chronicled in exhaustive detail by scores of historians. (p. 253) Following this comment about “historians,” Dan Brown lists four books written by various authors: Margaret Starbird, Michael Baigent, Richard Leigh, Henry Lincoln, Lynn Picknett and Clive Price.
The royal bloodline of Jesus Christ has been chronicled in exhaustive detail by scores of historians. (p. 253) But none of them are historians! Starbird has an MA in comparative literature and German. Baigent holds an undergraduate degree in psychology and is pursuing an MA in mysticism.
The royal bloodline of Jesus Christ has been chronicled in exhaustive detail by scores of historians. (p. 253) Leigh is a novelist and short story writer. Lincoln gained notoriety as a BBC television personality and scriptwriter. And Picknett, along with Prince, is involved in occultism, the paranormal, and UFO studies
Leonardo Da Vinci made the following comments about the New Testament: 1)“Many have made a trade of delusions and false miracles, deceiving the stupid multitude:2)”Blinding ignorance does mislead us. O! Wretched mortals, open your eyes” (p. 231)
Leonardo Da Vinci made the following comments about the New Testament: 1)“Many have made a trade of delusions and false miracles, deceiving the stupid multitude:2)”Blinding ignorance does mislead us. O! Wretched mortals, open your eyes” (p. 231) These remarks have nothing to do with Leonardo’s views on scripture. His first comment, in context, is about alchemists who claimed that they could change lead into gold.
Leonardo Da Vinci made the following comments about the New Testament: 1)“Many have made a trade of delusions and false miracles, deceiving the stupid multitude:2)”Blinding ignorance does mislead us. O! Wretched mortals, open your eyes” (p. 231) His second comment, in context, refers to the foolishness of what he called men’s “own opinions,” “lascivious joys,” and “vain splendor.” Brown completely misrepresented Leonardo’s writings to make it seem as if the great artist detested the Bible.
The Jewish Tetragrammation YHWH – the sacred name for God – in fact derived from Jehovah, and androgynous physical union between the masculine JAH, and the pre-Habraic name for Eve, Havah. (p. 309)
The Jewish Tetragrammation YHWH – the sacred name for God – in fact derived from Jehovah, and androgynous physical union between the masculine JAH, and the pre-Habraic name for Eve, Havah. (p. 309) YHWH was not derived from JEHOVAH! The term actually predates JEHOVAH by thousands of years. Brown, in fact, has it backwards – JEHOVAH was derived from YHWH.
The Jewish Tetragrammation YHWH – the sacred name for God – in fact derived from Jehovah, and androgynous physical union between the masculine JAH, and the pre-Habraic name for Eve, Havah. (p. 309) JEHOVAH is merely the 16th century Latinized form of YHWH with the vowels from “Adonai” inserted between each consonant, then the Y & H were Latinized. YaHoWaH(Hebraic) JaHoVaH(Latinized) JEHOVAH(Modern)
The Jewish Tetragrammation YHWH – the sacred name for God – in fact derived from Jehovah, and androgynous physical union between the masculine JAH, and the pre-Habraic name for Eve, Havah. (p. 309) As for the word Havah, there is nothing “pre-Habraic” about it. This is simply “Eve” in Hebrew and it appears in the Old Testament.
Any gospels that described earthly aspects of Jesus’ life, had to be omitted from the Bible. (p. 244)
Any gospels that described earthly aspects of Jesus’ life, had to be omitted from the Bible. (p. 244) The gospels in our New Testament present many “earthly aspects” of Christ’s life such as physical frailties(hunger, fatigue, death);emotions(anguish, outrage, love) ; and relational interactions(with His mother, friends and followers)
What about the so-called “Secret Gospels” that give us other details about Jesus’ life?
There is a collection of books called the “Secret Gospels” that give far-fetched details about the early life of Jesus
