New data published in Barron's cites an article by a Harvard Business School Doctoral Candidate who examined the reading habits of different investor types. Her findings? That hedge fund investors tended to be "the early birds" when it comes to reading news stories first. The study, by Anastassia Fedyk, noted that while hedge fund investors comprise less than 10% of financial professionals who are reading the news, they account for over 1/4 (app. 27% ) of "first clicks" on news stories.
