  3. At the outset, I thank the High Commissioner of Trinidad and Tobago, Roger Gopaul for the gracious invitation to be a part of this event, which is co- hosted by Global India Business Forum. I am delighted at this opportunity to address you. Let me congratulate the High Commissioner of Trinidad and Tobago and Global India Business Forum on the launch of India-Trinidad and Tobago Business and Cultural Council. This is a timely initiative as it comes at a juncture when India and Trinidad and Tobago are celebrating 60 years of establishment of diplomatic relations. 2022 is a special year for both India and Trinidad and Tobago. While India celebrates 75 years of its independence, Trinidad and Tobago celebrates 60 years of independence. Let me take this opportunity to convey, on behalf of the Government of India and 1.4 billion Indians for the peace, progress and prosperity of the people of the beautiful country of Trinidad and Tobago. Ladies and gentlemen, today I speak before you as the Minister of State for both External Affairs and Culture of India. Culture is one of the important pillars of cooperation between our countries. Our Indian brothers and sisters who made Trinidad and Tobago their home over the last 170 years not only kept their heritage, tradition and culture intact but also added new colours and flavours to it. I am sure this forum will complement the efforts of the Indian cultural centre in the Port of Spain. I once again convey my wishes to the people of your beautiful country and I wish India-Trinidad and Tobago Business and Cultural Council a fruitful journey in strengthening relations between our countries. Thank you very much! Jai Hind! 3
