Uploading and sharing of photos and videos of accidents online may be considered a breach of law including obstruction in investigation and justice by the system. Such an act shall thus invite trouble under which a hefty penalty ranging from Dhs50000 to as much as Dhs3000000 could be imposed by law in addition to the deportation of the accused from the country.
Avoid Fundraising Activities • Another serious act is to engage in fundraising activities without consent by the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department to ensure its proper allocation to worthwhile pursuits. Such an act is against the UAE’s Charity Law.
Taking Photos • Taking photos of other without seeking permission and then uploading on social media sites is dealt with stringently in Dubai. The act will invite harshest of punishment in the form of the penalty of up to Dhs50000 and imprisonment of 6 months.
Public Display of Affection • Strict No at all costs. Avoid getting intimate with your partner in public space. The country has very different sensibilities about it and considers it illicit under the Sharia Law. Also, dress in a way that is modest in appeal rather than revealing. As a matter of fact, avoid playing loud music and spending ostentatiously to show respect for their customs and principles. Drinking in public is a criminal offence. No matter what, avoid drunk driving at all cost.
Public Transport • Avoid stretching out your legs on the empty seat or dozing off in public transport as it may invite a penalty of up to Dhs300. Carrying sharp objects or hazardous materials will attract a fine of Dhs1000. A heavy fine of Dh2000 will be levied if a person is found damaging, vandalising or destroying equipment or seats inside buses and trains.
