  2. When adding integers, remember the following pneumonic devices: U S B L A S S dd ign ame ubtract ike signs nlike signs igger number

  3. Adding Like Terms (LASS) -6 + (-8) Like signs, so simply Add = 14, and then keep the same sign - Adding Unlike Terms (USB) 6 + (-8) Unlike signs, so Subtract 8 - 6 2 = 2 - Then keep the sign of the Bigger number

  13. Subtracting Integers When you subtract integers, it’s easy to remember the following: COPY, CHANGE, CHANGE

  14. COPY, CHANGE, CHANGE 4 – 9 Copy the first number Change the minus sign to addition Change the second number to its opposite (sign) 4 + (-9) - = 5 Now you are adding unlike signs (USB), so subtract 9- 4 And Keep the sign of the bigger number
