NEW DEVELOPMENTS FOR AIRCRAFT INDUSTRY: TEXTILES • Activation of the textile with plasma technology, for a better uptake of FR-product and for a better adhesion of the FR-product onto the textile using impregnation technology • Already proven on PA-textiles (FAR 25.853 appendix f part 1) • Why it can be used: • For better adhesion of the flame retardant product onto the textiles: better wash ability • To reduce the chemical concentration in a impregnation bath (more environmental friendly) • To obtain extending flame retardant properties according the FAA-regulations for interiors. Plasma pre-treatment FAA Materials Meeting (Zürich)
NEW DEVELOPMENTS FOR AIRCRAFT INDUSTRY: AIRCRAFT WINDOWS • Polymerization of multifunctional barrier coating with plasma technology • Fire retardant properties and anti-crazing properties • Development of scratch resistant multifunctional barrier • Why it can be used: • The multifunctional barrier should increase the burn-through time (longer time for evacuation) • The multifunctional barrier should also increase the crazing resistance due to some influences as temperature, UV-radiation, humidity, … • The coating will also increase the hours of flying: less maintenance is needed Plasma treatment FAA Materials Meeting (Zürich)
