    3. What is WRHR? NIH Mentored Clinical Scientist Development grant (K12) Funds obstetrician-gynecologists interested in research career Junior faculty appointment 2- to 5-year scholarship 80% effort for research Strong departmental support Research and travel budget

    4. Participating Institutions BWH MGH BIDMC Harvard CHB All Harvard-affiliated institutions are potential research sites

    5. NIH Eligibility Requirements Completed OB/GYN residency May be appointed in final research year of clinical fellowship training US citizen, non-citizen national or US permanent resident Cannot be/have been PI or Co-PI on RO1, R29, K-series, other large NIH award PI of RO3, R21 - eligible

    6. BWH WRHR Program Goals Educate, nurture and mentor Scholars to become leaders in womens health research Create individualized research and career development plans based on Scholars goals and experience Combine intensive lab research, didactic courses, career development training Make available rich biomedical resources of Harvard-affiliated area

    7. Goals for Scholars Develop skills/knowledge needed for successful career as independent investigator in womens health research Successfully publish high quality work Successfully obtain independent research funding Earn promotion to Assistant or Associate Professor

    8. Scholar Tracks Track 1 Track 2 Track 3 MD/PhD, >5 yrs research experience Ready to pursue independent research project Estimated 2-3 years in WRHR Program MD, 2-5 yrs research experience May choose to pursue PhD training Estimated 5 years in WRHR Program <2 yrs formal research experience Most interested in pursuing career in clinical investigation Focus on didactic training: statistics, epidemiology, clinical trials

    9. Balanced Mentoring Approach Faculty Mentor Research Scientist Provides research training support Principal mentor to Scholar Academic Advisor Obstetrician-Gynecologist Provides clinical career support Facilitates integration into department and national societies
