Cornwall’s First Beach Fish Sculpture 423 People Say Yes However Local Council Says No! Simon Dutton is facing resistance from Negative Cornish Red Tape Officials St. Austell CORNWALL, Tuesday 4th June 2019 - Gloweasy Promotions a company based in St Austell Cornwall has started a petition on change.org https://www.change.org/p/everyone- save-cornwall-from-plastic-waste-now-or-never-gloweasy- promotions The petition is about saving Cornwall from plastic waste pollution from Holiday makers. The petition has a huge amount of support and so far, 423 people have already signed it. Simon Dutton, Brand Director of Gloweasy Promotions was overwhelmed with the amount of love and support shown by the people of Cornwall with his idea (the FIRST ONE of its Kind) installing Cornwall’s First Beach Sculpture for collecting plastic waste. Simon Dutton commented: “We do a lot of beach cleans and our work has been supported by various celebrities see more here (http://www.gloweasy.com/our-beach-cleans/)”. He found that at many times people just throw plastic bottles and other plastic waste onto the beaches or even in the Sea when they visit the beaches. Simon goes on to say… If they have something unique to put their waste when they visit the amazing beaches of Cornwall, then this will keep the beach clean as well as adding to the beauty of the beach and make people think about the problems we are all facing. Simon Dutton continued: “We want to install a Big & Beautiful Fish sculpture, which will be first of its kind in Cornwall. This giant fish will have an open mouth for collecting the rubbish which will keep the beach clean and it will also serve as a tourist attraction. We have even setup a crowdfunding GoFundMe
campaign for the Fish Sculpture(https://www.gofundme.com/cornwall039s-first-beach- sculpture-for-waste)”. Simon further added: “I am quite disappointed because I have been receiving lot of resistance from the local council and received no support from them for this fantasticidea, in fact after contacting several local people not one has responded! The local Council has been terrible. It seems that nobody is interested and I am facing lot of Red Tape and negativity”. However, Simon is still confident and is working towards bringing this Big Giant Fish Sculpture to Cornwall. He has been made aware that his idea has been stolen and we now have a sculpture in Devon, even the other party who confirmed they had indeed seen his Facebook post said what a great idea it was and that even local news are running a story on it.
