He finished his primary schooling in his village. During his childhood days, Shivaram used to enjoy studying, learning new things and playing with his friends at school. He had a keen interest in sports and loved participating in competitions.
Know your Leader: K.V. Shivaram He went on to complete his high school in Bengaluru at M.S. Ramaiah but had to come back to his village to write his SSLC exam. As fate would have it, he failed in four subjects and went on to pursue a life by getting a job. He comes from a political background. Although his father was an agriculturist by profession, he was the President of Gram panchayat and also the President of KMS Sangha. He was a passionate social worker and he worked at the panchayat to help people. His father believed in the social cause and was strongly against taking money or materials as bribe. Shivaram also shares the same beliefs, and ponders, when compared to today’s political times his father’s time had a better political system and governance. Shivaram got his first job as a security guard, with minimum perks that included free food and a hostel stay, for a wage of 3000 Rupees. This didn’t sit well with him; he knew he wanted to work in some other field. Soon he moved on to work in an automobile garage, as a mechanical helper. He learned the tricks and trade of fixing things. With the passing of time, he even became the Manger of the same branch. For another three years, he worked as a General Manager in another Automobile domain of a Manufacturing Industry, where he was responsible and oversaw the complete end-to-end tasks. After quite a journey, Shivaram mustered all the courage he could find and began his own industry. He provided mechanical services to – HAL, defense sector, automobile sectors, food industry, etc. Even though he wasn’t an engineer by profession, he provided mechanical engineering services till 2011 and had a successful run. During his industry days, he used help out in the elections at the Gram panchayat level, where his father contested. Even though officially he wasn’t a party member, he used to help out with the booths, and
canvassed for leaders. He had even received a ticket for Zilla Panchayat from JDS, but he wasn’t interested to partake then. His opinion about politics soon changed. His father met with an accident during this time and fell ill. The recognition and respect towards him slowly started deteriorating. He started facing financial and property-related problems. Even Shivaram met with an accident. He could not get past the system, the government demanded bribes to get simple jobs done. With this thought in mind, he wanted to bring about a change in how things worked. With constant discussions about this issue, he and his friends began tried coming up with a solution. They had a notion –it’s time for the ones who were angry and disgusted by the government system, to get involved in politics and bring change and take it in the right direction. He couldn’t bear the thought of the next generations to come, to be exploited the same way and so he began his journey towards politics. He contested in the 2013 MLA elections for Srinivasa Taluk but didn’t get enough votes. The party wasn’t doing well, it didn’t have much exposure. But Shivaram didn’t give up. He started traveling a lot, creating awareness and promoting JDU. He didn’t mind even if he had to shell out from his pocket. He had one goal in mind, to see the party grow and for Mr. Mahima Patil become the president of JDU Be a part of the JDU family!! Become a member today!! Join JDU
