Photographers use a number of techniques for illumination subject. • They use different types of lighting devices and install them in various methods for getting a desired effect.
The name suggests the purpose of this method. In this type of light set up, the face of a model is spilt into two halves with the help of light- one half is illuminated while the other half is dark. • For getting this type of effect the key light source is installed 90 degrees to the right or left of a subject. A dimmer light may be installed on the other side for making the shadow on the other half less dark.
For loop photography lightingset up, the key light should be installed around 30-40 degrees from the camera at a level higher than eye line so that one half of the face of a model is properly illuminated while slight shadow is created on the nose on the other half.
This technique is among the most popular ones for portrait photography. Key light is set up on one side of the face of a model so that one half of the face is properly illuminated with the other half is shadowed except an inverted triangle patch of illumination below the eye
