  4. AP Positioning • Patient supine on table • Patients midline with midline of table • Knee flexed (optional) • Arms at side or up out of the way • No rotation • Collimate on lateral borders of spine

  5. CR perpendicular to crest SID 40

  6. Seen on Radiograph • Entire Lumbar spine • Intervertebral joint spaces • Spinous and transverse processes • SI joints • Sacrum

  7. Lateral Lumbar • 14 x17 lengthwise • Marker • 90 @ 50 • Expiration

  8. Lateral Lumbar Positioning • Patient rolled up on left side • Knees flexed and on top of each other • Align mid-coronal plane to mid-line of table • True lateral position with no rotation • Scapula and hips straight

  9. CR perpendicular and centered crest SID 40

  10. Seen on film • Intervertebral foramina • L1-L4 • L4-S1 Junction • Spinous processes

  11. Spot • 8 x10 lengthwise • 100 @ 50 • Marker • Measures 31 • Hold breath • Collimate to area of interest

  12. Spot Positioning • Same as the lateral • You do not have to move patient • You angle your tube

  13. CR is angled 5-10 degrees caudad SID 40 1 ½ inches below crest

  14. Seen on Film • An open L4-L5 space • L5-S1

  15. Sacrum and Coccyx • 3 views, 2 AP’S & lateral • 10 x 12 lengthwise • Shield on Males • Marker • Expiration • Collimate to area of interest • 80@15 for AP’s • 90@55 for lateral

  16. AP Sacrum • Patient supine • Align midline of body to midline of table • Patient flat with no rotation • Patient in the same position as AP L-spine

  17. CR angled 15 degrees cephlald SID 40 Midway between ASIS and Symphsis Pubis

  18. Seen on Film • AP projection of sacrum • SI joints • L5-S1 Junction

  19. AP Coccyx • Patient in same positioning • Angle the other way

  20. CR angled 10 degrees caudad SID 40 2 inches above Symphsis Pubis

  21. Seen on Film • Coccyx free of imposition

  22. Lateral Sacrum and coccyx • Position patient on side like the Lateral L-spine • Align sacrum and coccyx to midline of table

  23. CR Perpendicular to IR SID 40 3 inches posterior to ASIS

  24. Seen on Film • Lateral view of sacrum and coccyx • L5-S1 joint
