1. A number of steps have already been taken to improve the safety of the food supply. For example:
- FDA’s Seafood HACCP regulations
- FSIS’s meat and poultry regulations
- The Food Quality Protection Act ( streamlined regulations of pesticides by EPA and FDA)
- CDC’s PulseNet (fingerprints bacteria and permits rapid and accurate detection of outbreaks) and FoodNet (measures the burden and sources of foodborne disease in the US) programs
These advances are significant - but they are not enough.

34. Currently For Method Validation System AFDO, Atlanta, Georgia June 2001 - Method Validation Workshop Method Validation vision developed and overwhelmingly approved what was shown in this presentation
New Method Validation system was introduced to international lab community at AOAC International annual conference in September and was widely supported.
AOAC International is currently working with USDA on pilot for these concepts of new validation process.
Tomorrow, Dec 4, 2001 - Electronic Methods of Analysis (EMA) Advisory Group Initiates work on pilot.
