South American Exports • As a whole, South America is a large exporter of minerals such as copper, zinc, gold, and iron • Oil is exported from Venezuela and Brazil • South America also produces high amounts of agricultural products, such as beef, dairy, coffee, cocoa, rice, wheat, potatoes, etc.

Recent Events in South America • Cuba finally opens up its agriculture, particularly sugar, to foreign investors, Particularly a Brazilian company • Wars on drug cartels have been going on in several South American countries, particularly Colombia, Brazil, and Bolivia, which have caused penetration into the bordering countries, especially Ecuador, which has seized scores of tons of contraband. The most widely circulated drugs are marijuana, heroin, and cocaine. • Venezuela has been threatening to withdraw its oil being sent to America due to American calls for less dependence on foreign oil
