    7. Outline What is Touch Math? How does Touch Math work? Can anyone use Touch Math?

    8. I. What is Touch Math? An innovative technique for learning the four mathematical operations. Touch Math uses touch points on numbers to make math concrete.

    9. Touch Points The touch points on a number equal the value of that number.

    10. Touch Points Some numbers have one touch point for each count. The numbers 1,2,3,4 and 5 have single touch points. Other numbers repeat touch points. The numbers 6 thru 9 repeat these points.

    11. How does Touch Math work? When students add, they simply start with the top number and continue counting by touching the “touchpoints”.

    12. How does Touch Math work? When students subtract, they simply count backwards starting with the top number while touching the “touch points”.

    13. Can anyone use Touch Math? Touch Math is a nice method that anyone can use. I’ve had success using this method with primary students. Students with learning disabilities also can benefit from this strategy.
