Flight Delays Why are the possible reasons for my flight delay

While air travel is usually fun and exciting, at times, flights get delayed and cause problems to passengers. The rage and annoyance resulting from the situation are understandable, but behind this condition, there could be reasonable explanations you are not aware of. To help you figure out these, we have prepared a list of possible reasons for flight delays. Letu2019s have a look!<br>

  1. Flight Delays: Why are the possible reasons for my flight delay?

  2. Let’s have a look!

  3. Possible reasons for flight delay: Aircraft delay: Airlines run on a very tight schedule and try to keep the aircraft in the air for as much time as possible. It is so because the more the flights are in the air, the more money they will bring in. So, the landing and departing times of all flights become interconnected in a way such that a delay in one aircraft directly affects the take-off timings of another. Hence, if your flight is not on time, a delay in another aircraft’s landing could be the issue.

  4. Bad weather: It is unsafe to take off or land during heavy rain or storm. It is because during poor weather conditions, the visibility decreases, which makes it difficult for the pilot to see ahead. Since this increases the chances of an accident, the flights are delayed until it is safe. ATC restrictions: To avoid accidents, the aircraft must seek permission from Air Traffic Control (ATC). Since so many flights are in the air, the airspace could get busy. Because of this, the ATC might have to prioritise landing and aircraft separation, which can lead to delays.

  5. Bird strikes: Another possible reason for your delayed flight can be bird strikes. They are common in the aviation industry and might cause damage to aircraft. If a bird enters the engine, it could cause serious issues. This is why airports have a separate team assigned to disperse birds. Late crews: At times, someone from the cabin crew or the pilot might get late and become the reason for the delay. Also, since the cabin crew needs to ensure that the aircraft is ready for boarding before take-off and check the basic requisites, a delay might happen.

  6. Prepare the aircraft: The turnaround flights need to undergo a lot of procedures before boarding the next set of passengers. They need to refuel, prepare food and beverages, clean the aircraft, and take safety and security measures. Before all the mandatory checks are made, the flights cannot leave the ground. So, it might be another reason for the delayed flight. While waiting at the airport for your flight could be irritating, one needs to show a certain level of patience. Understanding the possible reasons why your flight is not on-time can help with that. Another thing you can do to prevent reaching early at the airport is to check the flight status trackerbefore leaving home. If you know how much delay is there in your flight, you can plan accordingly.
