  1. Parlour Palm | Care And Growth Tips For This Houseplant The parlour palm, also known as the Neanthe bella palm or the Chamaedorea elegans, is a small, slow-growing palm native to the rainforests of Mexico and Central America. It is a popular houseplant known for its delicate, feathery fronds and ability to thrive in low light conditions. This compact plant typically grows to about 3-5 feet tall, with a spread of about 2-3 feet. It has thin, dark green leaves divided into many small, lance-shaped leaflets. The leaves are held on slender, gracefully curving stems that give the plant a delicate, airy appearance. This post will discuss the care and growth tips for this beautiful plant. Light These palms prefer bright, indirect light but can tolerate lower light levels. It is important to avoid placing them in direct sunlight, as this can cause the leaves to turn yellow or scorch. If you are unsure whether a location in your home has enough light for this

  2. plant, you can test it by holding your hand about six inches above it. The light is probably bright enough if you can see shadows on your hand. The light may be too low if you cannot see any shadows. If you find that your home's light levels are insufficient for your palm, you can try providing it with artificial light using a grow light. Plant nurseries take proper precautions to prosper this palm well. Water It is important to water your palm regularly, but be careful not to overwater. Overwatering can lead to root rot, which can be lethal to the plant. To determine when to water your palm, stick your finger about an inch into the soil. If the soil feels dry, it's time to water the plant. If the soil is still moist, wait a few more days before watering again. Avoid getting water on the leaves, as this can cause them to turn yellow or rot. You can also use a moisture metre to help you determine when to water your houseplant. These devices measure the moisture content of the soil and can give you a more accurate reading than simply sticking your finger in the soil. Soil It is important to use a well-draining soil mix for your palm, as excess water can lead to root rot, which can be lethal to the plant. A good soil mix for this plant should be rich in organic matter and have good drainage. You can use a commercial potting mix specifically formulated for tropical plants or make your own mix by combining equal parts potting soil, peat moss, and perlite or pumice. It is a good idea to repot your parlour palm every two to three years or when the roots become pot-bound. When repotting, choose a pot slightly larger than the current one, as these palms prefer to be slightly pot-bound. Use a well-draining soil mix and follow the same planting instructions as when you initially planted the palm. Temperature These palms prefer warm temperatures, ideally between 70 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit. They can tolerate cooler temperatures, but they may become dormant if the temperature drops below 50 degrees Fahrenheit. To ensure that your palm is getting the right temperature, you can use a thermometer to monitor the temperature in the plant's room. If the temperature in your home is too cold for your favourite palm, you can try placing the plant in a warmer location or using a space heater to increase the temperature. If
