This Holi – Live Ecstatically Every Moment Holi is literally one of the most colorful festivals in the world. Hindus celebrate the festival in the month of March, when wheat is harvested. Holi commemorates spring and the mythological stories of the god Krishna and the king Prahlad. I often wonder the significance of events/festivals in my life, how I feel & experience it! Last time I wanted to feel & experience Mahashivratri on 7thMar’16 but my father met with a severe accident on the same day so therefore could not. I learnt that on Mahashivratri, the northern hemisphere of the planet is positioned in such a way that there is a natural upsurge of energy in a human being. This is a day when nature is pushing one towards one’s spiritual peak. Therefore was curious for this day. Now if the upsurge of energy is possible on one particular day, I believe it would be possible on every day. But how? After lot of thinking, I found out that all our emotions, thoughts & feelings depend on our state of mind. Am I feeling on top of the world or at the bottom, it depends on our thoughts & beliefs. But is it possible to feel excited & ecstatic all the time? Answer is yes it is possible. Here are some tips to be at top of the world; to be happy all the time: a) Value & utilize this very moment– I can connect the dots now. When I became entrepreneur I shifted from a stable job to insecure & unstable entrepreneur environment. I felt insecure. But I realized one thing that every second world is changing, situations are changing, environment in which I operate was changing. I
asked my self the question: can I control or predict my future…year, month, day or even couple of hours, the answer I got was ‘No’. Therefore I decided to stop worrying about future. Instead focused only on current moment, hour or at best today. I started focusing on my daily, hourly productivity. Am I leveraging the time I have in my life! Am I doing things, which I really want to do! My daily/hourly ‘To Do List’ becomes my most valuable item to uplift my mood. I felt ecstatic when I started achieving daily. Feeling of achievement is a great booster to self confidence. b) Be selfish–You can be selfish in a positive way. In this context, selfish doesn’t mean to harm others but be selfish to achieve your goals/aims of life. Put yourself first in your life. So if you want to loose weight, focus first on things, which will help you loose weight like start healthy eating & daily exercise. If you want to improve a competency, research about it today on ways to improve it. Strategize & execute the improvement plan today. Idea is to have a sharp & continuous focus on self. You know how in airplanes, there’s the safety warning before take-off? What does it tell you? Put the oxygen mask on yourself first –THEN you can help others. Because, duh, if you’re not breathing anymore, you’re not going to be all that helpful! Therefore lets make focus on self-improvement & feel ecstatic. c) Remove toxic people & surround yourself with positive people– One must identify with the negative source of energy in one’s life. Be brutally honest in identifying the people around you who are Making you negative, Sucking your positive energy Spoiling your hours & days Remove them from your life. Don’t ever feel guilty about removing such people. You don’t have to make room for people who cause you pain or make you feel small. If you can’t remove them, then neutralize their impact in your life in order to maintain store your positive energy. At the same time, identify people, mentors & guides who see the greatness in you. Surround yourself with people who are positive, who have dreams & ambitions for themselves. They would push you to achieve for yourself. Go & share your thoughts with such people. If required ask for help. And you will see the life changing experiences. Lord Buddha said :
What you think, you become. What you feel, you attract. What you imagine, you create. It’s up to each one of us what to think, feel & imagine. I sincerely wish you live an ecstatic & excited life starting from this very moment. Happy Holi! Nikhil Think HR India
