WHAT IS UNITED ATHLETES FOUNDATION? Mission: To empower professional athletes to impact communities through education and social development. Vision: Uniting athletes throughout the world to maximize our leverage for the betterment of communities. Board of Directors Dr. Walter Young – Chairman Dr. Young is a successful dentist, international businessman and community activist. Founder of Young International Development Corporation, an international consulting firm serving Africa, Japan, the Caribbean and United States.. Young serves on the board or as a member of numerous organizations including Villa International, the Georgia Board of Tourism and Trade, the City of Atlanta License and Review Committee, the United Youth Adult Council, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center, the NAACP, the Urban League and Atlanta Quest. He also serves as Honorary Consul General of Liberia, West Africa. Mr. Ray Lewis – Vice Chairman Ray Lewis is regarded as one of the best defenders in the NFL. His honors include two NFL Defensive Player of the Year awards, eight Pro Bowls, and a Super Bowl MVP. Ray founded the Ray Lewis 52 Foundation, a non-profit corporation whose mission is to provide personal and economic assistance to disadvantaged youth , and earned the "Act of Kindness" Award in 2006 for his tireless work in the community. Ray is also a business man whose entrepreneurial spirit is exemplified in his operation of the Ray Lewis Full Moon Bar-B-Que in Baltimore, MD
BOARD OF DIRECTORS cont’d Mr. Derek Moses – Treasurer Derek has provided professional services to companies such as the Internal Revenue Service, Ernst and Young CPA's, Ford Motor Company, and Wachovia Bank N.A.He received his education from Fisk University by obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in Management and Economics at the age of 19, and completing his Master of Business Administration at the age of 21 from Columbia University in the city of New York. Mr. Anthony Flynn – Secretary Anthony currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer of the Urban Youth Workers Institute , a national non-profit that builds and develops urban adult leaders in 20+ major metropolitan cities across the United States. Additionally, Anthony travels as a sought after inspirational speaker, professional consultant and facilitator who has contributed to the lives of thousands of people in a variety of contexts. Anthony has worked with a number of professional athletes, companies, non-profits, churches, schools and more.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS cont’d Mr. Reggie Howard – President/ Executive Director, United Athletes Foundation After a life-altering injury his senior collegiate season, Reggie persevered and reached his goal of becoming an NFL player. His NFL career includes two seasons with the Miami Dolphins, and five with the Carolina Panthers. He is a strong advocate of community service and has worked with the United Way, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, United Negro College Fund, Young Family YMCA, St. Jude Hospital and the Boys and Girls Club. Reggie is also the founder of his own initiative, the Reggie Howard Foundation, to build self esteem among children and teach them the value of setting goals; giving kids of today a better chance at becoming the leaders of tomorrow. Mr. Howard is a graduate of the University of Memphis where he earned a degree in Marketing / Management as well as the “Outstanding Young Alumni Award”. He has participated in the Stanford University Entrepreneurship Program, Kellogg University Business Internship Program, Wachovia Wealth Management Internship Program and High School Coaching Internship Program. Reggie is also the founder of Howdel Trucking, Inc.
