  5. Freedom • You were prisoners • Everyone: sin (3:22) • Jews: The Law (3:23) • All separated from God

  6. Freedom • You were slaves • Gentiles: paganism (4:8) • Jews: The Law (4:24-25) • All trying to earn acceptance

  7. Freedom • Christ set us all free! • The prison walls of sin and the Law • He gave Himself for our sins (1:4) • Christ took the curse of the law for us (3:10-14)

  8. Freedom • Christ set us all free! • The slavery of self-righteousness • No one can earn acceptance (2:16) • Acceptance comes by faith (3:22)

  19. False Teachers • They lead people astray (7) • They do not come from God (8) • They’re teaching is subtle and pervasive (9; Matt 16) • They will face judgment (10; 1:8-9)

  20. False Teachers • They abuse truth-tellers (11) • They emphasize the flesh (12)
