  2. Choose Your Career Path & Find a Mentor There are many cosmetology schools across the country that can help you get started in your new career. But, before you choose a school, it’s important to consider what type of cosmetologist you want to be. Do you see yourself working in a salon? Or, do you have visions of opening your own business? Maybe you’re not quite sure yet, and that’s okay too. A good way to prepare for cosmetology school is to find a mentor in the field. This can be someone who works at a salon, or even a family member or friend who is passionate about hair and makeup. A mentor can help you learn about the different techniques and products that are used in the industry, and they can also give you advice on which cosmetology school would be the best fit for you. Finding a mentor is a great way to gain some insight into the cosmetology world and to make sure that you are prepared for what lies ahead.

  3. Get to Know Your Classmates & Your Teachers As you begin your cosmetology school journey, getting to know your classmates is an important part of the experience. Your classmates will soon become your close friends and colleagues.
