  1. Central Heating System Problems and Solutions If there’s no hot water, your house feels like an iceberg or your tap keeps dripping, some essential checks could save you a call out fee or helps you understand the nature of the problem so you can tell your engineer: No Central Heating or Hot Water Check if the central heating programmer is switched on. Check if the central heating system fuze has not blown, if yes, get it replaced. You could also have a loose wire, for that you need to call an electrician. Check your boiler to see if the pilot light is on. Check if there’s a proper gas supply. Check your boiler pressure guage, the water pressure is at least 0.5 bar. Malfunctioning of the pump could also be one of the reasons. Central Heating is Working But No Water Your thermostat must be set to at least 60° C. Check that the motorized valve (if fitted) to the cylinder is open. Check if the air is not trapped in your hot water cylinder, if yes, bleed the air release valve, this valve is usually located on the pipe that enters the heating oil. Leakages If there’s a leaky pipe joint, you can tighten it yourself but be careful. Apply some sealant, but remember this is a temporary solution, get it fixed by a heating expert as soon as possible. Aging Boilers Risk of CO poisoning, inefficient and they are more prone to breakdowns and faults, it is always better to replace your aging boilers. Regardless of the age of boilers, you should have your system serviced atleast once a year by a reputed heating company.
