  1. What To Post On Instagram Stories And Feed by Kimberly Jean Fricke Instagram is a great way to engage with your target audience, but you might be wondering what you should be posting and where you should post it. There are two areas to Instagram that you can use and they are your feed and your stories. What you post on one will be different to what you post on the other. Your Instagram Feed Your Instagram feed is the more permanent option. What you post here will remain there until you delete it. This means that you should be posting evergreen content here because it will always be there. Your feed is also the best place to post content that engages new audiences. The posts on your feed will be what people see in searches and when they use hashtags. It is best to think about your Instagram feed as the face of your business because it is what everyone is able to see. All of the images that you post on your feed should be polished and well planned. You can plan your posts in advance and set them to post at specific times. You have to be consistent with your images on your feed or you run the risk of looking unprofessional and disorganized. While videos can be posted to your feed, you do need to consider that most people scroll with their sound off. This results in the message being lost in many videos. If you are going to post videos, you might want some subtitles to help.

  2. Your Instagram Stories Instagram stories are quite different to your feed and you need to completely different strategy for them. Instagram stories will usually last for 24 hours unless you save them. This short lifespan means that they do not have to be perfect and can be more casual than your feed. Your Stories will generally have engagement from your existing audience because they will know that they are available. The only time you will have other engagement is when you choose the save the story. This will appear in an area where everyone who views your profile will be able to see them. What you post on Stories will depend on whether you are an influencer or a business. Influencers should take a vlog style approach to stories and create a simple chain of events that can be added to the story. Businesses should consider posting sales and new product announcements to their stories. A quick interview with someone from the business is also a good idea. Most of the people checking Instagram Stories will do so with their sound on. In fact, 70% of people will have their sound on for Stories and you need to consider this when you post content. However, the key to success on Stories is to stay true to your brand style and personality. Your Instagram feed and stories should work together if you want to get the most out of this platform. You do have to post different things to each and plan what you are going to do.
