  4. Jane A. Delano, Superintendent of Army Nurses, joins the Red Cross, organizing a national nursing corps and training thousands of nursing aids. Jane Delano 1862-1919. Joins the Red Cross in 1909.

  5. During World War I nursing aids were very busy making bandages and influenza masks Red Cross volunteers 1917 – 1918.
