DMI • Directorate of Marketing and Inspection (DMI) headed by the Agricultural Marketing Advisor, Department of Agriculture & Co-operation (DAC). • Implements agricultural marketing policies and programs of the Government of India. • Sponsoring Agency of AGMARKNET.
National Informatics CentreThe Project implementing agency • NIC offers state-of the art IT solution to the Government and Corporate Sectors - Consultancy, S/W development, Web development, Networking expertise & Training. • NICNET - computer communication network of NIC, connecting the national capital, the state capitals & all district headquarters as well as certain C.D. blocks having CICs’. • The Network uses terrestrial, wireless & satellite communication. NICNET has international gateways at Delhi, Mumbai,Bangalore, Chennai and Calcutta. • NICNET has 800+ C-200/C-250 VSATs, 32 high speed VSATs, 150 TDMA, 1060 RO-VSATs and a number of FTDMA VSATs. NICNET provides uplink at 64 kbps and downlink at 256 kbps to 3 Mbps.

Scope covers ........ • NICNET based Agricultural Marketing Information Network (AGMARKNET) which envisages to transmit price and market arrivals of commodities in markets to State Agricultural Marketing Board / Directorate for analysis and local dissemination. • Onward transmission of the same to DMI Hqrs. • 1st Phase of AGMARKNET has connected 670 Agricultural Produce Markets and 40 State Agricultural Marketing Boards & Directorates.
