Architecture Of The Renaissance • The main character in Renaissance architecture is that they study the architecture of the Roman and the Greeks. • So, they adopt the so called Classical detail and ornamentation • However the use of space are different. • The Renaissance doesn’t need large building such as the Sport Arena or the public bath and the build new types of building such as the building for merchants • One of the important things is that space is organized based on proportion, form and rhythm.
CHARACTERISTICS OF RENAISSANCE ARCHITECTURE • Plan • The plans of Renaissance buildings is usually square and symmetrical. • With proportions which are usually based on a module
CHARACTERISTICS OF RENAISSANCE ARCHITECTURE • Façade • Façades are symmetrical on the vertical axis. • Organized by a system of pilasters, arches and entablatures • The columns and windows show a progression towards the centre.
