Motion 19 • Move to adopt the comment resolutions for the General category comment 1274 as “Declined”, • In September, the TG considered adopting the text in 08-0419-02; The motion to adopt the text failed, 7-6-7. Concerns include: • Synchronous voice and video will be suppressed, without the ability for codecs to compensate. Codecs improve performance to adapt to the links. • Legacy 2.4 GHz STAs (including dual-mode cell phones) will not honor the Quiet element, and many do not have a dot11SpectrumManagementEnabled MIB variable. • No provision for asynchronous MIB changes among the APs is provided - with bad radio links, how do the incremental MIB changes affect BSS operation during the MIB changes - how does QoS work while the dot11APCEntry surpression tables are being changed, and when dot11xxxAPCollaborationEnabled changes value, how to calculate and communicate the new TCLAS? • No exceptions to suppression in order to meet regulatory requirements like E-9-1-1 • No exceptions to suppression when operating in shared bands - to report radar, change channel, DSE, etc. • The commenters revised the proposal, and in November, the TG considered adopting the text in 08-0419-03; The motion to adopt the text failed, 5-7-8. Concerns include: • Insufficient explanation of the experimental and simulation results for the multiple AP cases regarding MOS scores and number of APs, offered load, station load. • Behavior in the presence of more than 2 APs with AP collaboration active not described; note that the typical enterprise case has many more than 2 APs. • No detail provided on performance of AP collaboration in the presence of an AP that is not a collaborating AP. • Radar avoidance issues. • Failure to address synchronization issues between APs, specifically clock drift. • No convincing explanation of why throughput reduction occurs (assuming it is not hidden nodes) – need more than just a measurement on a single type of device from a single vendor. Such an explanation would show that the proposed coordination mechanism would actually solve the problem, would solve it better than alternate approaches and would not –in different scenarios– actually degrades performance. “ • Moved: Allan Thomson • Seconded: Emily Qi • Result 7-1-8 Motion passes Dorothy Stanley, Aruba Networks
Motion 20 • Move to adopt the comment resolutions for the Co-located Interference category comments indicated below, and include the indicated text changes into the TGv draft. • CID 302 – Declined, “The TG adopted the collocated interference capability to enable the STA to provide an indication of collocated interference that may be present, and the TG believes that this capability is complete and sufficient. The need for additional specification of transmit inhibition is not clear. The examples cited in 1010-03 include the case when ACK is used; however when ACK is used, there is no difference between the receive and transmit interference. Another example cited is applicability to broadcast/multicast traffic. However, with MC/BC – there is no need for the AP to know that transmitter is inhibited, unless all stations would have the same exact inhibition schedule. Another example cited is when delayed ACK and Block ACK are used. However, Delayed ACK, Regular Block ACK are still sent, or are sent at a pre-defined delay time. Not clear how the AP can schedule to use the information provided in the proposed additional bit(s). In addition, distinguishing between RX/TX provides an even higher layer of granularity, creating a false expectation of frame scheduling on the part of the user. ” • CIDs 303 through 308 – “ See CID 302” • Moved: Qi Wang • Seconded: Emily Qi • Result 8-2-6 motion passes Dorothy Stanley, Aruba Networks
Motion 21 • Move to adopt the text changes in • 11-08-1396-00-000v-normative-text-annexq-update.pdfinto the TGv draft. • Moved: Joe Kwak • Seconded: Allan Thomson • Result 10-0-3 motion passes Dorothy Stanley, Aruba Networks
Straw Poll 8 TGv should authorize an ad-hoc in February 2009. • Yes 5 • No 0 • Abstain 13 Dorothy Stanley, Aruba Networks
Motion 22 Move to authorize a TGv Ad-hoc February 16-18, 2009 (Mon-Weds), in San Jose area, host tbd • Mover: Joe Kwak • Seconder: Fujio Watanabe • Result: 3-1-12 motion passes Dorothy Stanley, Aruba Networks
Motion 23 Move to authorize TGv Teleconferences • January 6, 13, February 3, 10, 17, March 3, 2009 • Noon Eastern for 2 hours. • Mover: Emily Qi • Seconder: Fujio Watanabe • Result: 7-0-7 Motion passes Dorothy Stanley, Aruba Networks
Motion 24 • Move • To adopt TGv Draft 3.04 as the TGv draft, • To instruct the editor to renumber TGv Draft 3.04 as Draft 4.0 and • To request the 802.11 WG chair to conduct a 30-day Letter Ballot on TGv Draft D4.0, asking the question “Should TGv Draft 4.0 be forwarded to Sponsor Ballot?” • Mover: Emily Qi • Seconder: Allan Thomson • Result: 11-0-5 motion passes Dorothy Stanley, Aruba Networks
