Admission Criteria • Intensive Care Units • High-Dependency Units
ICU • Endotracheal intubation and invasive mechanical ventilatory support • Support of two or more organ systems • Chronic impairment of one or more organ systems who require support for acute reversible failure of another organ
HDU • Detailed observation or monitoring that cannot be provided at ward level - Direct arterial BP monitoring - CVP monitoring - Fluid balance - Neurological observations - Regular GCS recording
Support for a single failing organ system, excluding invasive ventilatory support : - CPAP or NIV - Moderate inotropic or vasopressor support - Renal replacement therapy • Step down from intensive care
Respiratory Critical Care • Shock • Respiratory Failure
Cardiac Arrest • Cardiogenic Shock • Pulmonary Edema • Acute MI • Cardiovascular Collapse • Cardiac Arrest
Neurologic Critical Care • Coma • Encephalopathy • Subarachnoid Haemorrhage
Oncologic Emergencies • Pressure or Obstruction caused by space occupying lesion - Superior Vena Cava Syndrome - Pericardial Effusion - Intestinal Obstruction - Urinary Obstruction - Malignant Biliary Obstruction - Spinal Cord Compression - Increased Intra Cranial Pressure - Neoplastic Meningitis - Seizures
Metabolic or Hormonal problems - Hypercalcemia - SIADH - Lactic Acidosis - Hypo glycemia - Adrenal Insufficiency • Treatment related complications
Treatment related complications - TumorLysis Syndrome - Human Antibody Infusion Reactions - Hemolytic-Uremic Syndrome - Neutropenia and Infection - Pulmonary Infiltrates - Haemorrhagic Cystitis - Hypersensitivity Reactions to Antineoplastic Drugs
