In 2003 an imaginative museum dedicated to the great Maharana opened and was unsurprisingly named the Maharana Pratap Museum, Haldighati. The realization of a dream to create museum founder and owner Mohan Shrimali.
Museum Founder The life story of Mohan Lal Shrimali is the story of abject poverty, perpetual struggle, strong determination and ultimately crowing success. Mohan Shrimali always dreamt of paying Pratap a befitting tribute with could reveal the rare qualities of his great hero of India. Pratap - the ruler of Mewar lived in the jungles with his wife and children, saw them starving but didn't yield to the might of Emperor Akbar and ultimately freed his motherland from Mughals. There was nothing in the region to depict Pratap's insurmountable spirit of liberty, equality, and fraternity. In fact, the first battle of freedom was fought at Haldighati.
About Haldighati The battle of Haldighati was not just one of the many fierce clashes between the Mughal and Rajput forces to annex land or retrieve it`A0(in the case of Rajputs). It was the battle for the Rajputana honor. Many powerful kings of Rajasthan, including those of Jaipur, Bikaner, and Boondi, were with Akbar. Rana Pratap had already alienated them by taunting how they had given their daughters and sisters to Akbar to barter peace. After all efforts by Akbar to win over Rana Pratap failed, the Mughal king sent his son Salim to lead the battle. Aided by the advisers of Maharaja Maan Singh of Jaipur, whose sister Jodha was the mother of Prince Salim, the Mughals amassed their force in the valley. The great Rana, too, had been looking for such an oppurtunity.
