  1.  Dealing with the common cold, flu or a sore throat is something that is very annoying. Not only these are irritating and cause us discomfort, but are also contagious. Therefore, it is crucial to know about the symptoms and sources of common cold, flu and sore throat, and treat them as soon as possible.

  2.  Mostly, the common cold is caused due to the viruses like rhinovirus, coronavirus and respiratory syncytial virus. The source of flu is the influenza viruses A, B, and C. Here are some of the symptoms of common cold: • Sneezing • Coughing • Clogged or a runny nose • Headache • Body ache • Tiredness • Low fever The symptoms of flu are as follows: • High fever • Severe ache in the muscles • Long term fatigue • Stuffed nose or a runny nose

  3. Prevention is always better than cure. As these diseases are contagious, therefore, we should first try to avoid them. Following are some of the ways by which you can prevent these diseases: • The best solution to prevent these diseases is to stay away from the people who are suffering from the same. Avoid direct physical contact with anyone infected with the virus, or you may also get the same. • Keep yourself clean and tidy. It is always recommended to use soap and water to wash your hands before and after meals. You can even use a hand sanitizer to get rid of the germs. • Taking vaccines is another way to avoid getting infected with flu. • Adequate sleep and eating fresh veggies and seasonal fruits can also help you to prevent the viruses. Other than prevention, if anyone is affected by the virus, that person can be cured through treatment. Here are some of the tips that you can try to get rid of cold or flu in the first stage: • Staying at home and taking adequate rest is the best way to treat the common cold. • Drink plenty of water and keep yourself hydrated. • If you find that the cold or flu is still persistent, then you need to visit a doctor soon. The doctor might prescribe you the needed antibiotics and pain relievers. Take the medicines on time and get well soon.         

  4. If you are suffering from a sore throat, then it can be caused due to bacterial infection or even flu. The bacteria get transferred from one person to the other because of sneezing or coughing. Other reasons of a sore throat are:  Some people are prone to regular drinking or smoking habit that affects the throat. Gradually this develops into a sore throat.  Pollution is another major reason behind throat infection. Some people suffer from dust allergy that might give rise to this problem.

  5. Here are some remedies to help you treat a sore throat:  A mixture of lemon and honey in lukewarm water can give some relief to your throat.  It is vital to gargle with warm water. You can put a little bit of salt in a glass of warm water and use it for gargling.  Rest is very important when you are suffering from a bad throat. A common cold and a sore threat is not a life-threatening disease. However, it can be very irritating and uncomfortable and might hamper your work.
