  3. Saving money I would be interested in learning how to save money on medications and other health expenses. 71.3% (2800) 16.0% (627) 12.7% (499) Yes Maybe No

  4. Tiered Health Plan I would support a tiered health plan where I would pay less if I completed a health assessment, had a yearly physical and had blood work done. 64.8% (2535) 23.1% (904) 12.1% (473) Yes Maybe No

  5. At this time… • Preventive health screenings are an affordable and effective way to identify hidden disease risk. • Many people are at risk for diseases such as stroke and heart disease but experience no symptoms. Early detection and control can prevent major consequences down the road. • Only ____ % of our health plan members received a physical exam in 2010. (From Humana) • Additionally, members are not getting age-based screenings as recommended. (Example: in 2010, ____ of the target population that should have received a mammogram received one). (From Humana)

  7. At this time… • It is unknown how many smokers we have. Therefore, we are unable to accurately determine the cost associated with presenteeism, sick days, health care costs, etc to PCS. • Through state and US data, we know the following: • Smokers cost $1,700 a year in extra medical bills, according to the National Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Added together with absenteeism and regular smoke breaks, and the annual cost jumps to $3,400 per worker. • An estimated 46 million people, or 20.6% of all adults (aged 18 years and older), in the United States smoke cigarettes. • Cigarette smoking is the leading cause of preventable death in the United States, accounting for approximately 443,000 deaths, or 1 of every 5 deaths, in the United States each year. • The state of Florida spends on smoking cessation programs yields $1.90 to $5.75 in economic gains for Florida employers, insurers and government.
