Trinidad and Tobago Let’s fly to beautiful . . . by Laura Schwartz
I took an ornithology trip to Trinidad and Tobago with Caligo Tours. This was the ultimate “get away from it all” and “commune with nature” trip. I spent 7 nights at the Asa Wright Nature Sanctuary in Trinidad, and 3 nights at the Blue Waters Inn in Tobago.
Time to wake up! • A wake-up call from a noisy bird. • Make friends with a gecko. • Pick your own breakfast.
Wander the Asa Wright Sanctuary • Swim at the waterfall • Rinse away your worries • Hundreds of butterflies
Flowers are everywhere! • Poinciana • Water lilies • hibiscus
Time for an ocean swim! • Sandy beaches • Warm, blue water • Anableps
Observe and photograph birds • Cave dwelling oilbirds at Dunstan cave • Hummingbirds • Guided by ornithologists
Caroni Swamp • Float to the middle of the swamp • Stare up at the sky • Watch the scarlet ibises come home to roost
Tobago: Blue Waters Inn • Sandy beach • Scuba diving • Pina coladas
Heading Home • Last minute t-shirt purchase at the airport • Fly back to New York • Long wait for baggage and taxi • I’m cold!!!
