    2. Impact on Kentucky’s Goals for Energy Independence The Conn Center’s mission will help with the following goals of KY’s energy plan. Improve the energy efficiency of Kentucky’s homes, buildings, industries and transportation fleet. Increase Kentucky’s use of renewable energy. Sustainably grow Kentucky’s production of biofuels.

    3. Initial Organization In April 2009, the Governor appointed a 10 member board for the Conn Center Initial research themes that will likely be proposed to the Conn Center Board Energy storage Alternative fuels Smart grids Energy efficiency New energy sources

    4. The Conn Center and KY Cyber Infrastructure Energy Efficiency Reduce overall energy demand Reduce personal carbon foot print Education Smart Grids Distributed energy generation and storage Grid stabilization Distributed Data Centers Reduce carbon emissions via renewable energy sources
