dense • When something is made of things that are very close together, it is dense. • Gold is a very dense element because its atoms are packed close together. • What is more likely to be dense, a crowd of people or a few people?
reaction • A response to something that happens is a reaction. • Elements combine to form compounds in a chemical reaction. • What would have a good reaction to rain, flower plants or a picnic?
generous • People who are generous are happy to share with others? • Would it be generous of your friends to share their lunch with you? • Share with your partner a time when you were generous to another person.
banquet • If you are going to a banquet, you are going to a special meal that will have a large amount of food. • What kind of banquet might you attend?
gaze • A gaze is a long look at something. • Would you gaze at a colorful sunset? Explain. • What other things would you enjoy gazing at? • When shouldn’t you gaze?
agreeable • Something that is agreeable is pleasing to the senses. • Would you be agreeable if someone offered to share a pizza? • Share a sentence with the word agreeable.
Something that is called a curiosity is something odd or unusual that interests people. Why would a neon blue cat be a curiosity? Things that perk our curiosity curiosity
famine • When there is famine, there is not enough food to feed everyone. • Why might there be a famine if no rain fell for a long time?
ingredients • Ingredients are all the foods and spices that you use to make a certain kind of food. • The villagers brought many delicious ingredients to add to the soup. • Are carrots or stones ingredients of real soup?
momentum • Momentum is the speed of movement or something happening. • As more and more villagers brought ingredients for the soup, the momentum built. • Would momentum build if you said ice cream or spinach was available in the lunchroom?
