  1. Ganesh Chaturthi is knocking at the door, and you, probably, are thinking of buying a Ganesh idol from a sculptor. This year, sidestep that idea and try to make clay Ganesh idols at home by your own hands. If you are bothering about its practicality, don’t worry. All you have to do is gather a substantial amount of clay and follow the steps mentioned below, only to discover that it is not that difficult as you think. Why use clay? We all are aware of the staggering environmental pollution that is slowly engulfing our earth. So, it is the need of the hour to try something eco-friendly. Clay is a natural component, and idols that are made out of clay get dissolved into the water without contaminating it. Step 1 First, with a substantial amount of clay, make 10 clay balls of different sizes - 5 tiny clay balls for head and crowns, 2 medium-sized balls for eyes and tusks, and 3 sizable balls for base, body, and head.

  2. Step 2 Now, make the base with 1 large clay ball by flattening it, and then place the other large ball over the base. Then, make four long clay rolls that will be used to make two legs, trunk, and arms. Then roll two of the clays out to form the legs and place a medium-sized ball -Ladoo- in one hand and flatten another hand so that it should look like a blessing pose. Step 3 Finally, place the final large ball over the body which forms the head and then, roll the rest of the clays to make trunks, tusks, and ears and put them into the proper place. Now, the idol is ready but not complete. And this is the most interesting part - painting the idols. Use turmeric, Sandal powder or any organic color to bestow a lively look to your idol.
