  1. Chemical Waste disposal services, Chemical drum disposal

  2. The waste materials that contain harmful chemicals fall under the category of chemical waste. Some chemical waste contains radioactive elements. • Such waste materials are very harmful to the environment. Disposal of chemical waste containing radioactive substances is also not easy. • The radioactive wastes that can flow into rivers, lakes, or other water bodies should be kept in small amounts.

  3. Several chemical waste materials exhibit one or more characteristics of hazardous waste. • People should dispose of harmful chemical waste carefully such that it does not harm the environment or the living world. • Chemical hazardous waste is available in all three forms of matter — solid, liquid, and gas.

  4. Composition of chemical waste • Chemical waste may contain flammable solvents. Some examples of these solvents are alcohols, acetones, etc. • Chemical waste may also contain toxic materials like pesticides, heavy metals, etc. • Corrosive substances like potassium hydroxide pellets, hydrochloric acid, etc., may be present in some chemical wastes.

  5. Reactive substances like cyanides, explosives, etc., can contaminate chemical waste. Examples of some reactive substances are benzoyl peroxide, sodium, etc. • Chemical waste may also contain toxic materials. Ethidium bromide and chloroform are two such chemical wastes.

  6. Polychlorinated biphenyls may also be present in the chemical waste. • Non-returnable gas cylinders can contaminate chemical waste.

  7. Things to keep in mind while packaging chemical waste. Points to be kept in mind while packaging chemical wastes are as follows: • Never combine incompatible waste materials in one container. • Store wastes in containers that are compatible with the chemicals stored in them. For example, never store corrosive waste materials in metal containers, etc.

  8. Use solvent safety cans for the collection and temporary storage of flammable organic waste solvents. Researchers should provide these cans to the laboratory. Cans submitted for chemical waste disposal must be made empty and sent to the laboratory immediately once they are identified with the building and laboratory room number. • Do not put precipitates, solid wastes, or other non-liquid wastes into these safety cans.

  9. Never put solid chemical wastes into biohazard bags. It may mislead people as it indicates a hazard that is not present. • Most buildings with Central Waste Storage contain drums dedicated to plastic and contaminated glass pieces.

  10. A label on containers of chemical waste Containers containing chemical waste must have the following information on their label: • It must have a full chemical name along with the quantity of waste it contains. • You can use ditto marks, abbreviations, or acronyms to replace the words. • You must mention the date when the waste was generated.

  11. You must mention the place where the waste was generated. • It must have the name and telephone number of the PI. • It must also contain the bottle number assigned on the respective waste sheet. • The label must have “Hazardous Waste” written on it.

  12. Conclusion Chemical Waste Disposal Services pick up the chemical waste and dispose of it properly. These services also take proper care during Chemical drum Disposal that contains polyurethane chemicals.
