Flashback: Top Technology Trends that Dominated 2018 With 2018 coming to a close, it’s time to talk about some of the top tech trends that experts predicted will dominate the year—and actually did.  Mixed reality – Virtual reality has been the talk of town for years, with brands embracing consumers’ needs for more immersive experiences. This year saw more companies being focused on combining virtual and physical worlds, hence the popularity of mixed reality. A great example of this is Microsoft’s mixed reality headsets, which allow users to stream VR games and at the same time run different apps, among many other exciting features and capabilities.  Digital/tech centralization – The last decade has seen the rise of all kinds of technologically advanced devices capable of communicating with each other in ways that in the past could only be seen and imagined in fictional stories. With all sorts of devices in the hands of consumers—ranging from their smartphones, tablets, and a range of other smart appliances and individual applications—people now crave technological centralization, which translates to a more convenient way of managing technology and digital devices from a central location and from a few gadgets or devices as possible. Smart speakers and similar types of apps and technologies are great examples  Merged technologies – The business version of digital centralization, merged technologies are also beginning to make waves in the business sector as more and more companies adopt integration between the various cutting edge and ground- breaking technologies, including machine learning, artificial intelligence, big data, blockchain, and the internet of things. Many companies and firms have already seen great success in combining data analytics, robotics, and artificial intelligence in order to increase speed and accuracy when it comes to dealing with client inventories and data. The previous year (2017) saw the budding of virtual reality and smart speakers as more VR and AI products made their debut in the market. This year was all about better communication, interaction, and connectivity.
