Basically Athens and Sparta were complete opposites. Athens was a democracy and all about politics and culture. Sparta was an oligarchy where its people were bred to fight. The two city-states were always at each other’s throats. So really, the Peloponnesian war was bound to happen. The war completely changed Greek life.
