  2. Basically Athens and Sparta were complete opposites. Athens was a democracy and all about politics and culture. Sparta was an oligarchy where its people were bred to fight. The two city-states were always at each other’s throats. So really, the Peloponnesian war was bound to happen. The war completely changed Greek life. It weakened the most powerful city state, Athens and gave Sparta superior power. Warsynopsis

  3. The Peloponnesian War started in the year 431 when Sparta attacked Athens. • It took place in Mainland Greece, Asia Minor, and Sicily • The war robbed Athens of its Golden age. • Sparta was aided by Persia near the end of the war. How it started
