  1. The history of Art Deco jewelry Art Deco style of jewelry emerged in 1925 when it was exhibited in the World Fair in Paris. The name of the style of jewelry was derived from the name of the exhibition. Exposition Internationale des Arts Decorates Industrials Moderns. The name ‘art deco’ was derived from this name. The Art Deco jewelry was very popular in the late 1920s and the 1930s although it was in existence since 1915. This was the time after the World War I, and there was a lot of optimism in the society. This is the reason that the bold and colourful styles of this art and the jewelry based on it became very popular. Although Art Deco was the name given to the style of design and art that emerged during this optimistic time. However, when the World War II was looming on the horizon, and when it commenced this style of art and jewelry design took a back seat. Then again it came to the fore after the World War II was over. Hence it can be said that art deco style of art and design, was prevalent throughout the 20th century except for the decade of the 1950s. It can be said that this style of jewelry never really died out and art deco jewelry and style of art and design was applied everywhere, from home interiors to the bold and colourful prints and patterns on clothes. The 1960s was also the time, when feminism started rising. The hems of women’s clothes and their hair started to become shorter. The women finally gave up tight clothes and corsets and became bold, independent and daring.

  2. The dresses became simpler and vertical and to add an ornamental value to the dresses, women started wearing lots of bangles, long earrings and brooches which could be worn on collars, coat lapels and even hats.
