CEL-320 & 360 Noise dosimeters An overview of the range of Casella CEL Personal noise dosimeters
What models are available? • CEL-320 personal noise dosimeter • CEL-320S sound level meter • CEL-360 logging noise dosimeter • CEL-360S logging sound level meter • There are also intrinsically safe models available for all of the above versions
CEL-300 models • Common features include • Cable microphone • Sealed keypad • Optional stalk microphone • Memory for 50 separate runs • Keypad lock • Long battery life
What model is best? • For simple measurements of the overall noise exposure the CEL-320 is sufficient • For a more comprehensive understanding of the noise exposure using the time history or data logging function then the CEL-360 is better
CEL-320 instrument main features 1 • 3 measurement ranges (30 – 140 dB) • Low 30 – 100 dB • Med 50 – 120 dB • High 70 – 140 dB • 2 frequency weighting • A and C • Separate peak frequency weighting • Lin or C
CEL-320 instrument main features 2 • 3 time weightings (responses) • Slow, Fast and Impulse • 4 amplitude weightings (exchange rates, Q factor) • Q = 3, or 4 or 5 or 6 • 2 simultaneous threshold levels • Normally 80 and 90 dB • Single criterion level • Settable from 80 to 90 dB
CEL-320 instrument main features 3 • Storage space in memory for up to 50 separate measurements • Every run tagged with start date and time • Calibration information stored with run • Pre run and post run date, time and level • Measures the overall total noise during run as a single figure for simple comparison against standards
CEL-320 instrument main features 4 • Preconfigured named SETUPs for quick start using most popular settings • OSHA, MSHA, DoD, ACGIH, ISO85, ISO90 & METER • Just select from the list, load and run to begin • Icon in display shows run has started • Lock keypad and wait until the end of the run • Halt run, readout results from memory
What measurements are stored 1? • For OSHA recordings • Actual noise dose%1 • Projected 8 hour noise dose%1 • Calculated TWA1 • Where results include noise above lower threshold level 80 dB • Same set for noise above upper threshold level 90 dB
What measurements are stored 2? • Time average noise level • LAeq with Q=3 exchange rate • Lavg with Q=5 exchange rate • Sound exposure level • LAE with Q=3 exchange rate • Maximum noise level • Minimum noise level • Peak noise level
What measurements are stored 3? • Up to 5 statistical percentiles (LN%) • LN10% • LN50% • LN90% • LN95% • LN99% • Used to describe the variation in the noise level from a distribution table stored during the run
What other outputs are available? • Results can be viewed in display using DATA key • Results can be directly printed as a single page report • Results can be downloaded to standard CEL software package
What are the benefits of the CEL-360? • Automatic recording using delay start/stop timers • Up to 16 sets of on/off times can be programmed into dosimeter • Run lengths of fixed duration • Storage of time histories to profile the noise during the run • Allows the time variation of noise levels to be displayed on the pc from the recording
What sampling intervals can be used? • CEL-360 can sample noise levels • From 1 second fastest to 1 hour longest • Total memory size is over 220,000 data points • How long can a recording last • Over 60 hours for 1 value every 1 second • How many parameters can be sampled • Up to a maximum of 10 parameters can be stored every sampling interval in a run
What are the benefits of logging noise? • Time history data logging provides very useful information for tackling excessive noise exposures • Focuses attention on noisiest periods during workday for correct usage of hearing protection or noise reduction at source
What other accessories are available? • CEL-110/2 acoustic calibrator • Used to verify the accuracy of the dosimeter • Use before and after each run to check for any drift in measurements
What is in a standard kit? • CEL noise dosimeter kits (eg. /K1) include • Calibrator – CEL-110/2 • Small foam windscreen – CEL-6225 • Download cable to pc – C6671 • Analysis Software • - CEL-6702 (dB10) for the CEL-320 models • - CEL-6704 (dB12) for the CEL-360 models • Kit case to hold all items – CEL-6682
What other kits are available? • Multiple pack kits containing • 5 dosimeters and accessories (eg. /K5) • 10 dosimeters and accessories (eg. /K10) • Provides a single acoustic calibrator • One download cable • One set of software depending on dosimeter model
What other accessories are available 1? • CEL-6648 Nylon pouch • Protects the dosimeter when used in dirty or harsh environments • Prevents possible damage to LCD or keypad • Discourages tampering with unit while being worn
What other accessories are available 2? • C6672 printer interface cable • Allows results to be printed directly to any standard office printer without the need to download to pc first • Useful for field use with battery operated printer
