Animals Living in the Biome • American bald eagle, American black bear, coyote, duckbill platypus, eastern chipmunk, European red squirrel, fat dormouse, least weasel, white-tailed deer, aspic viper, gray squirrel, cardinal, and many other animals.

Unique Features • The deciduous forest’s soil is richer than that of the boreal forests’ soil. • The forests canopy is thinner than most forests, allowing more light and heat to penetrate and reach the plants on the forest floor. • Smaller cold blooded animals can live on the forest floor because of the thin canopy.
Climate Features • The temperature range is from around 70 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer, to around 50 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter. • The Average precipitation is 30-60 inches a year. • Almost all of the worlds deciduous forest is located by an ocean.
