Fashion Over The Years There have been many dramatic changes throughout the decades 1920’s- Was the ‘flapper fashion’ decade. The dresses were short and shapeless, also known as the shift dress. They were heavily beaded and tasselled. 1940’s- The clothes from this decade were made by hand from existing items of clothing. They were very simple and plain. The skirts were tailored and went to the knee and had shoulder padded jackets. 1980’s- The 1980’s fashion consisted of tailored suits, big shoulder pads and was the most worn style of clothing. Another style was called the ‘new romantics’ this was very flamboyant clothing with lots of frills and lovely fabrics. 2000’s- The trend of the 21st century has changed dramatically from the 1920’s. Now we wear fur boots, strappy vest tops, high heeled boots, skinny jeans and big padded coats. BACK TO CONTENTS PAGE
