Who are the Partners ? • 4 schools- Cleeve, Tewkesbury, Winchcombe, Alderman Knight Special School • 1 college- Gloucestershire College of Arts and Technology (GLOSCAT) • Cleeve and Tewkesbury are 11-18 schools 1524 and 1743 • Winchcombe is 11-16 478 • Alderman Knight 5-16 55
Characteristics • High achieving Winchcombe - 69% A*-C Tewkesbury - 79% A*-C Cleeve - 75% A*-C • Specialisms are Technology ,Languages and Science • College – 98% pass rate at A Level/15% increase in top grades over 2 years/all 16-19 results at or above benchmark
Our Vision • Promote the ethos of inclusion • Identify local needs and drive forward change • Ensure a coherent strategy for the development learning 14-19 • Consolidate the partnership in a Trust
Our Targets • High quality provision for applied learning for all our students • 90% of students choosing to stay within the partnership to the age of 19 by 2013 • 85% achieving a Level 2 qualification in English and Maths at 19 by 2013 • No students permanently excluded from the partnership schools and an alternative learning opportunity offered for each student for whom this would normally be the outcome • Coordinated services for young people who have difficulties coming to school and achieving
The Role of the Partnership Manager • Coordinate the introduction of Diplomas across the partnership • Manage the work of the Board/Groups • Research • Manage provision for excluded pupils • Bid for funding and sponsorship • Develop industry/business links
Pastoral Group • Behaviour and attendance audit • Develop behaviour management strategies with schools • Oversee the work of support agencies • Share best practice • Monitor pupil progress and managed moves
Curriculum Group • Diplomas • Evaluating current provision • Timetable decisions • Transport • Options • Negotiate change
Diplomas • Audit of staff skills and experience • Forming Diploma groups • Gateway self-assessment • Employer engagement • Facilities assessment and planning
Alternative Curriculum 2007 • Each partner offered one new course • Students apply - CV and interview • 4 courses are Level 2, all run on Tuesday • Engineering, Construction and the Built Environment, Photography and Performing Arts (Acting)
Engineering Group • Developed from the Gateway discussions • Now involves 2 International employers and all partners • Raised the profile of engineering in all 3 schools • Involves employers in assessment, challenge and selection
