3 Types of immersion • Early (total) immersion • Entirely in French; from kindergarten • English is introduced in grade 2, 3 or 4 • At the grade 6-8, approximately half the school days is in French and half in English • (Core French)

Which one suits you best applying to learning English in Japan? • 4. Is immersion program being just conducted in Canada?
Research Questions to ask • English?: Would being in a French immersion program have any bad effect on the progress in English? • French?: How much French would students actually do in an immersion program? • Other subjects?: Would students do as well as students in a regular (English) program in other program? • Your head?: Would the need to think in two languages cause students “mental confusion”?
