Henry was the first Hawaiian convertto Christianity. He was led to Christ by the President of Yale College in the early 1800’s.
As he was being discipled, he developed a great burden for his own people and translated the New Testament into a written language that he himself developed for the Hawaiian people.
However, before he could return to Hawaii and preach the Gospel to his own people, he died of a fever.
But God used Henry’s memoirs to stir the hearts of many young people, who then went to Hawaii in Henry’s place.
By the mid-1800’s, 95% of the Hawaiian Islands were converted to Christianity! And the largest church in the world, with a membership of over 7,000, was located in Hilo, Hawaii!
“Lord, give us more young people willing to take the Gospel to the lost.”
Time to rest . . . . . .and meditate
