  5. Infant Mortality Link to Premature Births • CDC: Premature births was the major reason of 3% rise in US infant mortality (2002). • Rise related to advancements in technology and neonatal care. • Other causes: hospital reporting, maternal anemia, chronic high blood pressure, diabetes.
