Ear Disorders anatomy: external (outer) ear • The external (outer) ear, which comprises the: • Pinna or auricle, the outside part of the ear • External auditory canal, which connects the outer ear to the inside or middle ear • Tympanic membrane, also called the eardrum, which divides the external ear from the middle ear http://www.vitals.com/doctors/Dr_Daniel_Samadi/reviews http://www.entforchildren.com
Ear Disorders anatomy:the middle ear • The middle ear (tympanic cavity), which consists of: • Ossicles, three small bones that are connected and transmit sound waves to the inner ear. These bones are called malleus, incus, and stapes. • The eustachian tube, a canal that links the middle ear with the throat area. The eustachian tube helps to equalize pressure between the middle ear and the air around you. Equal pressure is necessary for the proper transfer of sound waves. The eustachian tube is lined with mucous membrane, just like the inside of the nose and throat. http://www.vitals.com/doctors/Dr_Daniel_Samadi/reviews http://www.entforchildren.com
