According to the Asian Development Bank (ADB), skies are wide open for the rice exporters of the nation; however, its outmoded rice value chain might act as a hurdle in this regard. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) flagged this issue when it conducted a study on Cambodia earlier this year and as it seems, the authorities have taken steps to update the same. It might be a result of the measures taken by the authorities that Cambodia has exported 138,364 tonnes of milled rice to China alone in the first half of 2023 and with that have earned a revenue of 88.9 million USD. President of Cambodia’s Rice Federation (CRF), Mr. Chan Sokheang said that China remains a strong market for Cambodia’s milled rice and the federation will continue to collaborate with the Ministry of Commerce so as to make sure that Cambodia’s rice exports to China cross 400,000 tonnes every year.
