As a result, farmers will be able to sell their tur, urad, and masoor pulses at any amount. Government’s Policy On Pulses Government’s Policy On Pulses To curb stockpiling and corrupt practices and enhance consumer affordability, the government imposed stock limits on tur, urad, and masoor on June 2, 2023, under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955. In addition, the government required wholesalers, retailers, big chain retailers, millers, and importers to declare their stock positions of urad, tur, and masoor pulses on the portal of the Department of Consumer Affairs. The respective state governments have been directed by the Department of Consumer Affairs to strictly enforce the changes in their respective states to ensure compliance with the stock limits imposed on tur and urad.
