When it comes to researching your degree course options you must consider the degree courses abroad. With the autumn fair season just around the corner and with many fairs to chose from you should schedule The Student World Fair on Saturday 3rd October 2015 at the Business Design Centre in Islington from 10am – 4pm. Where studying abroad is concerned there are plenty of things to be excited about like: cheaper tuition; relaxed entry requirements; a chance to travel whilst studying; the opportunity to gain valuable skills including global skills which employers are now looking for; and studying at an institution which is closely aligned to your learning style. Don’t worry if you haven’t decided on what to study yet, our national exhibition could be the perfect source of inspiration you need. Although, if your plans are a little more concrete, you can use the fair to meet (and compare) different international universities and make useful contacts.
When you arrive at The Student World Fair you will be given a fair guide along with a goodie bag. Use the fair guide as a point of reference as to which universities will be the best one’s for you to talk to. You’ll be able to work out the location of each university as well as the courses they offer. If you struggle to find the right university for you then just call upon a member of staff who will be happy to help! We are easy to find in our Student World T-Shirts. The Student World Fair Guide
The Study Abroad Loan fair is the perfect opportunity for you to meet international universities face to face and find out about opportunities available to you. You may only get a few minutes with each university, so make the most of your time with them! Try to familiarise yourself with their institution including, the courses they offer, the admissions process, entry requirements, location, the culture both academic and social, additional information. The more you do beforehand the richer the experience can be when you meet them: you will have knowledge to draw upon and that in itself will make a good impression. • Come and talk to us • If you’re unsure then come and see one of us, our Student World T-shirts make us easy to find. • Some more of our practical tips: • If you don’t feel confident about networking use this opportunity to practise your skills in a safe environment Research the university
Most students ask if they should come in formal dress. You don’t! However, you should aim for a clean and presentable look Bring a notebook with you. Paper and pen might seem a little old school but it is probably the best way to keep your notes which you could always type up at a later date. Make a note of the representatives contact details or ask for a business cards Although there’s no such thing as a stupid question, you should still prepare some thoughtful questions to make a good impression and to get the information you need. Make yourself memorable for the right reasons! After all, the people who you will be meeting could be a decision maker in the process of your application!
I have looked at the (subject) programme, can you tell me more about the programme please? • What is included in the programme? • Can you explain the culture of your institution and how might differ from institutions in the UK? • What are the demographics of students at your institution? How many are from the UK? Where else are they from? How do I get an international experience? • What extra-curricular activities are there for me to do outside the course? • What are the tuition costs? Is there any financial support which I might be able to apply for? What other costs are associated with the course? • How do I apply? • What is the best way to make a successful application? • Are there placement opportunities included in the programme? • Is there an opportunity for me to stay in the country afterwards and work? • How will this programme help me in the future? • Source :http://thestudentworld.com/blog/preparing-study-abroad-event/ Questions to ask:
